FMQ Friday 1/25/2013

It's Friday again and time to check in with FMQ Friday over at the Free motion Quilting Project. I managed to do some quilting on the last border of my Cheveron Quilt but have quite a bit yet to finish it up.

I finally received my panel for Leah Day's year long Express Your Love FMQ project and have made a small start.

Express your Love

The pin basting is almost done and then it will be time to head for my Studio to start outlining. Am looking forward to really getting started on this panel.

Double Wedding Ring

This is a fairly small Double Wedding I took to the ladies as Hart to Hart Quilting in Merrill Oregon over a year ago. I finished up the binding this week, my first bias binding on a scalloped edge.

FMQ Project. Friday post

Yeah, I finally got my panel to start Leah's Express Your Love Project! I haven't done any stitching on it yet, plan to get it basted tomorrow so maybe next week I will have a picture to share.

In the meantime, I am working on my Chevron Quilt from Christa Quilts this week.

Bernstien Bears Cheveron

I quilted swirls on the yellow border and am currently working on the outer border.

The center of the quilt is just stitched in the ditch. I am quilting several designs in the outer border. So far There is the one in this photo plus I added paisleys and some large pebbles this afternoon. I love pebbles but there will not be very many as I want to keep the quilt soft.

My Bernstiene Bears Cheveron is the quilt I am trying to finish for my January project.

After the Freeze!

I live about 3 miles from the Pacific Ocean, it isn't supposed to get cold. They say it has been the coldest spell in more then 22 years. I Do Not Like It! If I liked the cold weather I would live some place else (a lot of whining going on)

It warmed up today so I ventured out to take a few pictures. It is sooooo sad.

There is other damage too, like my ferns and hibiscus bushes. I am hopeful that come Spring we can trim them up and they will be as beautiful as ever.

In the meantime the cold front has moved through an the 60's and 70's are headed my way.

Update on Dec. Challenge

Last week I showed pictures of my beginning hyperquilting on the SewCal Gal Dec. Challenge. Here is a collage of where I am today.

I hope you can see the gold thread shining in the feathers and elsewhere.

This is taking me much longer to complete then it should as I am having some problems with my eyes and can't work on it for very long at a time. I am using eyedrops and, although they help, the weeping continues. I have an appointment with the eye doctor next week.

Quilt Along Friday

Leah Day started us on a new Journey this year that looks like a great learning experience and lots of fun. Today is FMQ Friday where we share what we worked on this week.

I am adding Hyperquilting to my SewCal Gal. December Challenge. Patsy Thompson loves hyperquilting so I am trying it out. My thread is a Superior metallic variegated, that ranges from copper to silver.

Even closer

It is givimg me subitility that is shiney and quite lovely. Maybe my next hyperquilting adventure will be more bold.

I am going to participate in Leah's 'Express Your Love' project using the panel. Spoonflower says it will take a couple of weeks to get it to me. In the meantime I plan to work on my stack of UFO's and practice Leah's lessons.
